Adopt an Animal

AdoptionBlock2

Our goal is to help you find an animal that matches your interests and lifestyle. Visit the shelter to meet and interact with the animals and speak to a knowledgeable associate.  The Lawrence Humane Society has wonderful cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets and “hand-held” pets available for adoption. On occasion, we also have birds, horses, and farm animals in need of loving homes.

Right now, we have a pony named Coco available for adoption.  You can see a video about her by clicking here.  If you are interested in adopting Coco, contact the shelter at (785) 843-6835.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees range from $10 to $800. The majority of the animals we receive rely on us to provide them with veterinary and behavior rehabilitation. We charge a fee to help to offset the cost of providing treatment and care and to ensure that no animal is ever turned away.

The adoption fee for each animal varies as we charge more for animals in high demand because of size, breed or age. These animals have the unique opportunity to raise funds to offset veterinary expenses for injured or ill animals or help us provide care for older animals who are likely to wait longer for a new home.

The Hold Fee of $20 is not refundable and does not apply to the Adoption Fee.
