Tips for Optimal Kitty Wellness
Lawrence, KS — September 24th, 2019 — September is National Happy Healthy Kitty Month. And yes, we know what you’re thinking:
Every month is a good month to celebrate our feline friends!
We couldn’t agree more. But we’re still more than happy to raise extra awareness about what it means to keep our kitties strong, lean, mentally engaged, socially adjusted, safe, comfy, and cozy at every age.
By the way, cheers to her long healthy life—because cats are living longer than ever nowadays. Right now, 1 in 5 domestic cats in America are at least 11 years old…and there are over 74 million pet cats and counting!
These cats, who come in all shapes, sizes, breeds, and personalities, have at least one thing in common: pet parents who adore them. And what you and other cat owners have in common is that you want your furry friends around as long as possible. That’s probably why you make an effort to create a good home for her, play with her, and treat her right. For this, we applaud you!
Just remember: the longer your kitty lives, the more at risk she’ll be for age-related chronic illness and disease. For instance, did you realize cats can get senile dementia, diabetes, arthritis, and even cancer? These conditions can be painful and stressful for your feline, heartbreaking for you to witness, and expensive to treat and manage. They can also limit your little lion’s quality of life and keep her from enjoying the wonderful golden years she deserves.
And no, your cat doesn’t need any help at being adorable. But she is relying on your help for staying healthy, disease-free, active, and well-adjusted.
The good news is that keeping your kitty healthy and happy isn’t all that hard to do. In fact, many of the following tips for raising a healthy feline are simple, rewarding, and easy for the whole family to get involved in!
