Items we always need for our pet pantry:

We serve as Douglas County's primary pet pantry and give out over 8,500lbs+ of pet food every month. These items help us keeps pets and people together!

  • Dry dog food*
  • Wet and dry cat food*
  • Cat litter
  • Kennels & crates (all hardware included & in working condition)
  • Leashes in good condition
  • Tie-out cables and stakes (100lbs or more) 

* We accept any size or brand. The ideal size bag of dog food is about 14lbs as its easy to carry and lasts our clients awhile. We even accept opened bags as long as it is not expired.

**If the food you want to donate is not in its original packaging (such as if it’s in a food bin), we just need to know what the food is. Bonus points if you print out the label online and tape it to the container!

Please do not donate:

To ensure the safety of our animals and staff, we are unable to accept the following donated items:

  • Bleach
  • Newspaper
  • Flat or fitted sheets
  • Pillows or anything that is stuffed (including bedding such as comforters)
  • Human clothing
  • Expired food or treats
  • Expired medications or supplements
  • Broken or damaged kennels or carriers
  • Retractable leashes
  • Pet beds (unless they are brand new or very gently used)

 

Lawrence Humane deeply appreciates the generosity of our community. We encourage donors to consider sharing these items with other local nonprofit organizations that may be able to use them.

Raise money for homeless pets every time you shop at Dillons! If you’re a Dillons customer with a Plus Shopper Card, register in the Community Rewards Program to start helping shelter pets today!

1. If you do not have a Plus Shopper Card, obtain yours at any Dillons Customer Service Desk
2. Visit the Dillons Community Rewards website
3. Sign in OR create an account

Donating your old vehicle to the Lawrence Humane Society is convenient and easy, and may qualify you for a tax deduction!

The Lawrence Humane Society partners with Vehicles for Charity to process donated vehicles. All you need to do is complete a simple online form (or call 1-866-628-2277) and Vehicles for Charity will take care of the rest. They will arrange to have your donation towed and will provide you with a tax-deductible receipt at no charge!

Donor Privacy

All information concerning donors or prospective donors, including their names, addresses and telephone numbers, the names of their beneficiaries, the amount of their gift, etc., shall be kept strictly confidential by the Lawrence Humane Society, its staff and volunteers, unless permission is obtained from donors to release such information.

The organization also assures donors that their names and addresses will not be shared with any third party unless permission has been granted. For those who do not wish to be included on a mailing list that might be sold, rented or leased to other organizations, donors should contact the organization to have their names removed.
