mullie classic (april 29)
Mulligan (Mullie) was a puppy with a badly broken jaw when she arrived at Lawrence Humane. It took extensive dental surgery and months of recovery, but she is now a happy dog in a loving home and lives her best life advocating for the animals at Lawrence Humane. It is in her honor that we are excited to host the 2nd annual Mullie Classic Golf Tournament! Taking place at the magnificent and challenging course at the Lawrence Country Club, this 25-team, 4-person scramble will take place on April 29, 2024. Mullie Classic golfers will get to enjoy complimentary breakfast, snacks, a Bloody Mary bar, a variety of drinks (alcoholic and non), fun swag items, and entry to the 19th Hole after-party! And not only will golfers be competing for team trophies and prizes, they’ll also get to compete in fun contests along the way! Sponsors will be featured in all Mullie Classic marketing materials, including a special event scorecard. There are also opportunities to receive complimentary team entrances, include items in participant swag bags, prominent hole signage, host tables as hole sponsors, or even limited opportunities to sponsor everyone’s favorite: the beverage carts and putting contest!
paw valley challenge
This month-long event encourages getting outside and moving with your pets, family, and friends by walking, running, and/or biking – move in whatever way you like most! We will celebrate all the miles logged and donations raised with a super fun Paw Valley party at the end of the month. This challenge can be a fun and healthy competition with your staff, colleagues, family, and friends! Sponsors are featured in Paw Valley Challenge marketing and have the opportunity to be featured on the Paw Valley t-shirts, distribute marketing materials in all participants’ swag bags, and have a vendor booth at the Paw Valley wrap-up party!
The generosity and support of community members like you helps us provide for the thousands of animals that enter our shelter every year and our efforts to keep pets and people together. Thank you for supporting Lawrence Humane!
FUR BALL – september/october
This will be the 30th anniversary of the Fur Ball, so it’s sure to be our biggest, grandest yet! The Fur Ball is a lovely evening full of exciting silent and live auction items, delicious food and desserts, great drinks, a lively program, and camaraderie with fellow Lawrence Humane supporters. Last year, we celebrated with nearly 300 attendees, 34 sponsors, and raised over $230,000 to support the thousands of animals that enter our shelter every year! Sponsors are featured in all Fur Ball marketing materials, including the full-color auction booklet received by every guest. There are also opportunities to receive event tickets, host a unique Lawrence Humane experience for your staff or family and friends (for example – a private happy hour at Lawrence Humane), and feature your beloved pets or highlight your favorite nonprofit (other than Lawrence Humane, of course!) to all Fur Ball guests.
clear the shelter day – aUGUST/september
For a decade, Lawrence Humane has participated in a nationwide effort to get thousands and thousands of animals matched up with a caring family to call their very own in A SINGLE DAY. In 2024, our goal is to make sure that a minimum of 150 animals are sleeping in their new homes at the end of the day and our kennels are empty. Every animal that’s adopted goes home spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. Each adopted animal also receives a collar, leash, and starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet pet food. Sponsorships help get these animals adoption-ready! Sponsors are included in all Clear the Shelter marketing and have opportunities to be featured on official Clear the Shelter t-shirts, participate as vendors at the event, and include promotional materials in the bags of every adopter.
pet vaccine clinics (available year-round in 2024)
In 2021, Lawrence Humane started hosting monthly low-cost vaccine and microchip clinics for Douglas County pets whose owners were struggling to afford basic, essential veterinary care. These monthly clinics serve an average of 40-60 pets from 30-40 households per clinic, with the vast majority of pets not having seen a veterinarian in over a year because cost is a major barrier for their families. We strive to make these clinics as accessible to the Douglas County community as possible, never wanting pet owners to have to choose between paying for their pet’s health or other expenses such as rent, food, or their own healthcare. Clinics will continue throughout 2024. Sponsorships help subsidize the cost of vaccines and microchips for pets whose owners need assistance affording them. Just $35 ensures that a pet is microchipped and has all of its annual vaccinations! Sponsors are able to sponsor an entire clinic or provide assistance to a designated number of animals per clinic. Sponsors have the opportunity to be recognized in all vaccine/microchip clinic marketing materials, Lawrence Humane social media, and in our Wet Nose News Weekly Newsletter.
