Asher Home At Last!

In life, each day can bring new unexpected and surprising moments. For Doug Shuler, that surprising moment took place on an ordinary day at the office, where he soon would meet a new piece to his puzzle. Asher, an adoptable dog from the humane society, was out for a walk for a day of Mass Street Mutts with Schuler’s boss’s wife when she stopped by the office to say hello, bringing Asher along for the quick visit. For Shuler, this is when he first fell in love with Asher.
“Asher was so calm and friendly,” said Shuler, “Then he was gone.”
Over the next month, Shuler thought about Asher quite often and began considering adopting him. For Shuler, this possibility needed to be a thoughtful choice, knowing the commitment it is to take on the venture of adopting, caring, and loving an animal in a proper and responsible way.

Although he lived in a house with a huge fenced yard with ample room for a new dog to run around, because he lived alone, Shuler wavered on the fact that Asher would be spending a substantial time home alone while he was gone during the work day and this didn’t sit right with him. Finally, with a push from the boss himself, Shuler felt confident in making that big decision.
“He said I could bring Asher to work, that did it,” said Shuler, “And I’m grateful, he’s a wonderful dog.”
Shuler describes Asher as friendly, loving, and happy to have found a new home. He’s surprised Asher spent almost six months at the shelter from how great of a dog Shuler found him to be- but nonetheless, Shuler is just glad that Asher finally found him.
