Adoption Story: Butterscotch

Bringing Home Butterscotch!

It can often be heartbreaking when animal lovers lose a pet and recovering from this can be quite difficult for a family. The Becks family went through this very tragedy themselves and were heartbroken in 2024 when losing their Boston Terrier Monty. Monty brought the Becks much love and joy as they reflected on his loss being a big one.

They described their home as lacking happiness after the circumstance. As time went on, the Becks family explained that another member of their family, Parmesan, a Great Dane also adopted from the Lawrence Humane Society, had felt lonely and needed a new friend to keep him company and play with after losing his brother. This motivated the family to venture back to the humane society for another visit.

They decided it was finally time to bring a new member into the family and chose to adopt Butterscotch. They described him as the perfect fit for their family and home.

“This guy has brought so much joy and laughter with him, he’s such a goofy and fun baby,” Alexis Beck said. She explains that once adopting Butterscotch, it felt as if he had always been a part of the family. The family couldn’t imagine being happier with the adoption and has already had great experiences with Butterscotch.

“He loves playing tug with his millions of toys and cuddling on the heating blanket” said Beck. A loss of a family pet is never easy and the grief can take a serious tole on the household. Through the adoption of Butterscotch, the Becks found their happiness again and Parmesan found a new brother.
