We can’t stop CHEESIN’ about all the wonderful Mass Street Mutts adventures from September!!!
Last month was our most adventurous month yet and we just can’t get over how enthusiastic folks are to take one of our deserving shelter pups out for a wonderful day. This program has been one of the most transformative ways for the dogs in our care to gain exposure, allow us to learn more about how they behave outside the shelter walls, and most importantly – get adopted!
Whether you’re a college student who is missing your pets back home, someone who has a busy lifestyle, looking for something fun to do with friends, or simply enjoys spending time with dogs, we would love to have you sign up for a Mass Street Mutts (MSM) adventure and make a HUGE difference in the life of a shelter dog! We also loooovvvee when a local business or organization takes a dog out for the day or back to their office to hang out. It makes for great social media content for all of us to share!
Marley
Sweet Marley had been with us at Lawrence Humane since December 2024 before he finally found a loving home to call his own – that’s quite a long time! Over the past few months, Marley has enjoyed over a dozen Mass Street Mutts adventures and has been patiently waiting for a loving home. The time finally came when a very special someone took Marley out for the day. After a night of contemplation, the person who spent time with Marley came back the very next day to adopt him! We are SO excited when someone falls in love with one of our pups on a Mass Street Mutts outing! When the adopter came in to sign the papers, she told staff, “I was in love with him as soon as I saw him!”
Fritz + Douglas County Appraiser's Office
The Douglas County Appraiser’s Office signed up as a group to take a pup out for the day! Not only did everyone have a wonderful time, but they also got some great content for their social media and helped promote a dog looking for a home. How’s that for a win-win?!
Fritz received 5 stars and A+’s all around during his time with the DCAO. Here’s what they had to say about him: “Fritz did great in the car!! We started our day with a staff meeting. He is very polite and respectful of people. He did seem a little bored during the meeting though lol! After taking care of some business, we took a walk around the area. He wanted to go for a ride in a Sheriff’s car, stop and smell the flowers, and visit the fountain in South Park. Fritz enjoyed the afternoon relaxing at the office where he got all the love and pets. Before we headed back to the shelter – we went for a walk on Mass, stopped at the garden for some relaxation, then to Lucky Dog where Fritz lovingly gazed at the cookies, got some treats and a pup cup! Fritz is a great dog and we loved having him spend the day with us!”
Since this wonderful outing, Fritz has been lucky to be placed in foster care with a loving family. And to no surprise, he’s the perfect family dog! Not only is he an absolute dream with kiddos, but he’s also dog + cat friendly, can be left out in the house while you’re gone, and is overall a certified good boy! Who could ask for a better pup?!
Since he’s currently in a foster home, please email adoptions@lawrencehumane.org to schedule a time to meet him . We can’t wait to find this sweet boy a forever home with a family who will love and cherish him! ![]()

Coraline
Sweeeeeeeet Coralineeeeee! *cues audience* DAH DAH DAHHHHHH. She’s so good! So good! So good!
Good times never seemed so good when you adopt Coraline! Mass Street Mutt adventurers describe this pretty girlie as, “Kind, lovable, AMAZING!!!, beautiful, and friendly.” One of her special super powers also happens to include sign language as Coraline is deaf! Coraline is very good at responding to hand signals and is a delight to be around! We would love for you to come meet her at the shelter and let our adoptions team tell you how wonderful she is. We are open for adoptions every single day of the week from noon to 6pm. Coraline will be patiently waiting for you!
Buddy
Buddy is a shy kinda guy who would thrive in a quiet household. He’s a 6 year old lab mix and the perfect mid-sized pup at 40lbs! He’s timid and reserved at the shelter, but relaxes as soon as he feels safe! You can tell he is so much happier in the photos when he gets to leave and go somewhere quiet. MSM adventurers report he’s great on a leash and loves a leisurely walk, but is especially happy cuddling up next to you on the couch. If you’re looking for a homebody to snuggle with, Buddy is a perfect pick!
Ruby
Ruby came to Lawrence Humane stressed and untrusting of humans, but with the help of our behavior team, we were able to see Ruby’s personality shine! She has since been on several MSM adventures and loves to spend time with people! She’s also cat and dog-friendly, especially with smaller dogs! Here’s what folks had to say about their time with this 4-year-old cattle dog chow mix that has the body shape of a happy lil’ baked potato:
“Ruby did great! She didn’t bark at anyone or anything. She tugged a tiny bit when she saw some squirrels, but no chasing or aggression! She had no reaction to any other humans we encountered, besides giving them a precious smile.”
Flycatcher
We would love to see Flycatcher in a foster or adoptive home soon – maybe he would be the perfect fit for your household! MSM adventurers love to take this silly guy on exciting walks, but also love to cuddle up on the couch after they get some of his energy out! He is definitely the type of dog who will make you smile and laugh! Many adventurers report he’s very well-behaved, knows several tricks, and listens well (especially when treats are involved!).
This spunky 6-year-old hates to be at the shelter so we try to get him out of his kennel as much as possible. He plays well with other dogs and we would love to facilitate a dog meet at the shelter with your resident pup. If you think you could provide Flycatcher with a loving home (temporarily or forever!), let us know! Our foster coordinator or adoptions team would love to chat with you!
Susie
Susie is a 4 year old boxer mix with a delightful temperament. Several folks have taken Susie out for a Mass Street Mutts adventure and have used the following words to describe her: “joyful, loving, great in the car, big cuddle bug, good listener, calm, relaxed, TOTAL SWEETHEART!”
Sounds like a perfect dog for a lot of households, if ya ask us! Susie is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in learning more about this darling girl, please email adoptions@lawrencehumane.org!
Noni
Many other adventures with Noni have included children – she is so gentle and kind with them! In fact, one family that took her for an outing has two young daughters, the youngest of whom has had some fear of dogs. Noni was so calm and gentle with the kids that it helped the little girl start to get over her fear of dogs!
Noni is a dog who can do both: take a long, meandering walk or vibe on the couch at home. She is superb on a leash and in the car. Though she isn’t fazed by running into other dogs while out and about, she does need to be the only pet in a home. We can’t wait to find this sweet 6-year-old pittie the perfect family!
