If you’ve never heard of kitten season before, this is the time of year when shelters start getting in lots and lots of orphaned kittens and pregnant cats. Kitten season is generally March through October and during these months Lawrence Humane staff intake anywhere from 2 to 30+ kittens in a day, every day! Most of the kittens that come through our doors are sick, orphaned, and/or neonatal babies – and they all require love, caring foster homes, and lots and lots of supplies so that they can grow up healthy and strong and ultimately find loving forever homes.

Here’s some ways you can help your local animal shelter!

Or attend our upcoming event to kick off kitten season!

Help us stock up on much-needed supplies, enjoy drinks and snacks, play with kittens, and make your own cat ears! You bring the kitten supplies (or $$ donation that allows us to purchase the supplies) and we’ll provide the kittens, crafts, drinks, and food!
🐱 Happy hour will be in the multi-purpose room at Lawrence Humane.
🐱 Here’s the link to our Kitten Shower registry wishlist.
🐱 This event is come and go, so no need to get there right at 4 pm and we won’t be offended if you don’t stay the whole time!
🐱 You don’t need to make reservations.
🐱 We’ll have water and soda as well as beer, seltzer, and wine, so kiddos are welcome to join!

You can help save the lives of this very vulnerable animal population by donating your time or supplies! Become a foster by clicking here. We’ve made it as easy as possible to donate supplies and created a Kitten Wishlist that highlights all of our most needed items!
