Bart is a total goofball with the world’s softest ears. He needs a slow intro to people, but once you are in the circle of trust, he will love you for life. He is a star pupil, thanks to his intelligence and love for food. He is also potty, and crate trained in his current foster home. While he is not destructive to your house, he will help himself to anything that could remotely resemble food (see: coffee pods, tea bags, trash, dirty dish towels, candles, hand warmers), so if you leave him out, you’ll want to be sure you’ve covered all your bases! With his foster, he is proving to make a great adventure buddy—he doesn’t pull on a long line and has a beautiful recall (again, loves food!). He has shown on-leash reactivity to dogs, but has done okay meeting them up close, though we would not label him as dog confident. We think he would do well in a quiet house filled with love and patience where he can learn to trust the world around him. We would want him to meet any other dogs first; it could be great for him to have a calm, confident dog model to teach him how to dog. He does not have high exercise needs, but he does love mental stimulation. He is a food puzzle fiend. He would enjoy a house with a yard so that he does not have all the unpredictable noises of an apartment, but he also does well in an apartment when he gets assurance about all the different people and pets coming and going. We hope you’ll come meet Bart if he sounds like a fit for you! He is one of the smartest and silliest pups to ever come through LHS.
