How to adopt a pet from the Lawrence Humane Society

Due to COVID19 our adoption process begins online.  Follow these steps:

  1. Our waitlist is open daily from 10am-5pm. Click the blue button below that says, “Join the waitlist.”  Add your name and contact information and an adoption counselor will call you when it’s your turn to be matched.
  2. While you wait, you can view all our adoptable animals on the website! When it is your turn, an adoption counselor will email you a link to join a Zoom video conference call.  On the call, a counselor will talk about the animals you are interested in and help you find a match.
  3. Once you’ve been matched, the adoption counselor will provide instructions about coming to the shelter to meet your new best friend.
*If you need special accommodations to adopt, please call us at 785-843-6835 to discuss.
